The other day we headed out of the fields with another herd of cows. We headed them out to our North range.
Dave and Clay counted them through the gate.
Then we were off on another long journey.
One of my favorite sounds is the sound of the cows' hooves marching along. It is soothing and relaxing. They march along with no other sounds except the occasional moo or someone calling a dog back. It is a great time to just relax and enjoy the true beauty of the desert.

We got the herd to water, but for the past couple of days we have had to go move them to different places on the range. Doing this helps utilize all of the range and not over graze in one spot. We move all the desert herds around all winter.
I took several pictures of the range and sky while we rode. The December skies are beautiful.

Clay likes to photo bomb me.
The sun was starting to set. It was worth a quick stop.
Clay and I were both finished. I guess Ashley had her own ideas. Our horses wondered too..
What a beautiful drive home.
