Now that I am not working in town, I have decided it is time to get chickens again. I had them before, but unfortunately they were all murdered by a fox or skunks, or both. Who knows? So we have to re-vamp the coop. We have to dig a trench all around it, lay chicken wire in the trench and re bury it. Hopefully this will keep the varmints out. And as you can see, it needs a lot of work.
Above shows what the coop looked like before.
You'll notice we had a lot of extra help, besides our friend Brian.
That was Sunday. Today I was left on my own. It was tricky to try to cut and measure the chicken wire without a second set of hands, it just wanted to roll up.. But I got clever and beat the wire at it's own game.
I still had two sides to lay and bury the wire, then a lot of patching of the old, existing wire.
I also had to attach the wire to the building. I am not great at hammering. But I managed. I must really want chickens to do all this work. After all of that I realized I should have a roof on it. Again, I had issues with getting rolled up in the wire.. But I managed and got it finished. It may not be Better Homes and Gardens worthy, but I think my chickens will be very happy in it.

Now I just have get the chickens.
