Other than a couple of cold days in December we have had a very mild and dry winter. But last night we got some badly needed snow.
It was beautiful this morning when we went to check on the heifers. We had a night herder out all night who managed to keep the new ones warm.
This little guy was wet and getting cold so Dave put it on straw and covered it up.
When the calves get really cold we have other options. We have an electric calf warmer. It is this dome shaped container with a heater on the bottom.
Cash, Clay's dog, likes to get in my pictures.
We also use a tub with straw under a heat lamp.

We have had really cold winters in the past and I have had several calves lined up in front of the wood stove in my house. Whatever it takes to keep our babies alive.
The snow was so pretty. We took some time today to enjoy it. I took several pictures first thing this morning.
In the afternoon we broke away for a little fun in the snow.
Calves lived, we played. It was a good day. We even saw some turkeys on our way off the mountain.
