School in the Valley is out and also our niece is home from college. We like having the additional help.
They helped us gather cows off the range to bring them home.
It seemed to cloud up and rain every afternoon for the last couple of weeks. Until yesterday when it turned hot.
Today we had about 150 calves to process. We decided to run them on the branding table since it was a small number. We got up early and separated cows and calves.
We had help from Caleb and Christian. It was the first time they have helped using the table.
Dave showed them how to load the calves into the chute.
Clay taught them how to give shots and cut the ears. He also showed them how to catch the calf on the table.
The calves were giant. The boys worked hard.
We were a pretty good team. Only one calf escaped and had to be roped at the end.
Another bunch done, only one to go. I think it will be a good summer.
