We were finally able to get to the range to get some water hauled.  There has been too much snow followed by too much mud to haul water to the cows.  The cows have been doing ok on the snow and in some places live water.  They looked pretty good considering the harsh winter they have had.

We hauled out portable tubs.

The cows were happy to see the fresh water.

And the salt.

Ryan and I gathered some other cows to show them the water.  Dave fixed the fence where they had broken through.

How many heads of cattle do you have? How long do you keep them? Great to see the water, poor babies, all of them had a tough winter.

We have close to 2,000 head of cattle. We have them on winter range in 5 different places. They have done pretty well for the conditions. We kept a close eye on them and made sure the plants weren't all covered with snow so that they always had access to food. Cows do pretty well on snow for a while. It was good to get them a good drink though.

I bet they were glad to have a nice long drink, weather looks so much better, perhaps spring is on the way! Great pics and looks like Ryan is quite the hand, seems comfy in the saddle. Thought I might have seen the famous cowdog Penny,NIckel Dime but not sure!
