Pipeline problems

This was our load today as we set out to fix a pipeline that had recently been destroyed by a flood.
To catch you up, we had a fire last month on a mountain near where we winter our cattle on the range.  Following the fire came some substantial rain.  This caused some flooding.
We have very little live water to water our cows here in the desert.  Usually we haul water i
n water trucks to portable troughs that we move as we move the cows.  But this particular area gets it's water from a spring at the top of a canyon.  Years ago a head box  was made, which allows the water from the stream to go into a pipeline which carries water to the range down below to about three different drinking areas for the cattle. After the fire and all the rains last month all of this was washed away.
Last week my husband worked  to put the road back together so that we could haul the materials up that are required to rebuild the head box and pipeline.
Needless to say, the road washed away, again, yesterday.  When we arrived with our truck full of equipment today, this is what we saw:
So it's on to plan B.  That will involve carrying all the pipe up by hand. We measured the amount of pipe we need to carry up the mountain.
Not everyday turns out as expected on the ranch.

Wow, interesting. My husband n I were up Horse Creek today 11/2/15 and were marveling at the pipeline n the work involved to maintain. Particularly after seeing the devastation from the fire n floods. Thanks for sharing.
